Al'ar is Reborn! (submitted by nmdkp at 04:32am EST)

With many thanks to Kael'thas Sunstrider, our second full clear of Tempest Keep got much epics for everyone, including the following surprise:

(Jayla riding his [Ashes of Al'ar] - 16th September 2007)

Netherdrakes, Sperm mounts, and normal epic mounts are also in the screenshot for a mount size comparison. This is the second Al'ar mount on the server, the first belonging to Finwe, a druid from <Elementium>.

As a news update, we now have 30 members attuned to Black Temple and should be able to start on it next week after we kill Anetheron. Refer to our forums attunement status thread for the tentative raiding plan. Only 5 remaining members still need Vashj and 7 needs Kael'thas for attunement which should be easy in the upcoming 2 weeks. Yes, we only have 40 raiding members in our guild.

Once again, our new Black Temple DKP site is located at http://nomaam.game-host.org/bt. Watch that space for BT/Hyjal related news and screenshots.

Black Temple & Mount Hyjal DKP (submitted by nmdkp at 04:40am EST)

A new DKP table will be used in Black Temple and Mount Hyjal. The address of this website is located at

http://nomaam.game-host.org/bt/

-- Everyone will start at 0 DKP.
-- Non attuned raiders will still get DKP - but only in the first month (4 weeks). Can be discussed.
-- If you are capped, we're considering not giving you DKP at all. Don't get capped.
-- If you are not in the main raid, and we need you to sub in, if you are AFK and uncontactable or unable to sub in, you're not getting DKP.
-- Epic gems that drop from the trash will go to the guild bank. When BT/Hyjal loot with socket drops and you win that loot, guild bank will then give you those epic gems you need to socket it with free. (This is identical to how Eminence and Elementium handles it.)
-- Designs/Formulas/Plans/Patterns will be rolled on and worth 0 DKP. Won't be given to members that are too new to the guild.

-- All loot will still go by DKP as per the current system.
-- Minor upgrades will go around 75-125 DKP. -- typically bracers/belt/cloak/boots
-- Average upgrade will go around 150-225 (double). -- typically neck/rings/trinket/offhand/wand/relics and gear that goes in T6 slots but not T6.
-- Topend gear will go around 225-300 (triple). -- T6 and weapons
-- This means taking 3 minor upgrades is equal to taking 1 big upgrade. Essentially, it is almost like Ragnor's idea of dividing loot into 2 categories - loot that costs DKP and loot that doesn't cost DKP - except that the second group will cost really little DKP instead rather than 0. Discussion of who takes what loot first won't really work well due to large attendance variances.
-- You may take your 2nd/3rd T6 piece or 1st off-spec T6 piece at half DKP price, provided nobody else wants it.
-- There will still be no loot priorities.
-- The first 150 Hearts of Darkness is guild bank property (to craft SR gear for Mother Shahraz) and cannot be bidded on for crafting gear. The guild bank will supply all necessary materials (a few hundred Primal Shadows and Lifes and some Void Crystals/Fel Scales/Fel Hides) to make the SR gear (estimating about 11k gold needed at prevailing market prices). I will review this based on the fact that Mother Shahraz is being nerfed in the upcoming patch v2.2.

SSC and TK cleared - Vashj and Kael'thas dies (submitted by nmdkp at 04:25am EST)

I've been fairly lazy to do any updates on our boss kills, so I've decided to do both our major boss kills at the same time in one update. Just because I'm that lazy. Yeah. I'm because I'm lazy, I'm just copying the news template I used for our double Void Reaver/Hydross kill.

Mage in disguise (submitted by nmdkp at 11:18am EST)

User-posted image

This creepy little boss may look like a warlock, but he isn't. He is actually a mage in disguise, wearing the warlock T4 set, in secret admiration of all the warlocks just like every other mage out there. That's why he's so easily defeatable; if he was a real warlock, we'll all be AoE deathcoiled to the Cosmowrench already.

On Phoenixes (submitted by nmdkp at 09:23pm EST)

Quote:
User-posted image

The phoenix is a natural predator of the Elemental Plane. The wondrous bird is about 18 feet long with a sleek, feathered body that dances with bright flames. Its colorful feathers range from yellow to orange to red. A crest of spiky feathers runs down the center of its back, and its wingspan stretches out 30 feet. From birth to death, it spends its life hunting through the air -- in fact, it lacks any legs that might enable it to land. Even after death it often rises again from its own ashes to continue the hunt.

The phoenix is a fearless, aggressive predator of aerial prey. Its only direct form is a vicious bite, but the secondary damage from its flaming aura and ability to burn help to bring down its prey quickly. A phoenix prefers to attack from above and behind with surprise, but follows up its initial attack by remaining close to burn its victims while continuing to strike with its beak. (MoM-81)

If you've read Harry Potter or Greek mythology, you'll also know that phoenixes are immortal. At the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. However, like the Night Elves before the War, the word immortality merely means they will live naturally forever and not age, it does not mean they cannot be killed:

Double Kill! Dominating! (submitted by nmdkp at 12:57am EST)

In a atypical moment of astonishment, No MAAM manages to kill 2 new bosses we had been working on in a single night. Void Reaver tried to hardest to fling balls of arcane at us but the downies in NM were able to dodge everything. Now Hydross was crazier, especially when 16 elementals were running all over the place...

Fathom-Lord Karathress uses shaman hacks (submitted by nmdkp at 08:37pm EST)

We always claimed that shamans are overpowered. And they still are. If a priest and a hunter isn't enough, Karathress employs a shaman too, and one with Spitfire Totems which have 25k hp!

Still, with the power of protection paladins and feral druids, we were able to subdue all of them without too much difficulty.

Fishing in Alterac Valley has paid off (submitted by nmdkp at 07:16am EST)

Back in the days, long long ago, about 2 years back, we had a full fishing squad. We had the best fishing poles, the best fishing hats and the best fishing lures.

User-posted image
(Hacky busy fishing in Zul'gurrub)

Trained in the waters of Alterac Valley, we diligently trained and fish, while shoring up the best CP in the game.

User-posted image

Now our efforts have paid off in full. With our fishing squad, we were able to fish up the biggest marine creature to date (excluding Maws in Azshara) in record time and steam it to perfection in the scalding waters of Serpentshrine Cavern.

The following trash were also found among the steaming water of corpses:
[Pattern: Hurricane Boots] - Jaseon
[Nether Vortex] - Fayt's 5th one for his T3 weapon

We were sorry that Jameson was unable to attend this fabulous fishing session and sorry to hear that he has retired from leading <Pro Fisherman>.

Where has all the murlocs gone?

(Morogrim Tidewalker - 4th June 2007)

I think we frightened them all away... Or maybe Blizzard has abducted all of them:

In any case, no more murlocs exist in our Serpentshrine Cavern. Thankfully, nobody in No MAAM has murloc pets either. We're not that nerdy.
